Yury is a Wallenberg Fellow at Umeå University, where he leads a research group studying sensory neurobiology and mechanotransduction. He completed his PhD in Australia with Boris Martinac, studying mechanosensitive ion channels, followed by a postdoc in the US with Slav Bagriantsev and Elena Gracheva at Yale, where he worked on somatosensory biology and touch sensation. 

Stefano studied Biology in Bologna, Italy before moving to Innsbruck, Austria, for a PhD working on quantitative imaging, neurodevelopment, and calcium channels. They are now interested in mechanosensation and neural regeneration, possibly as stepping stones toward their ultimate scientific goal: engineering real-life Pokémon. Outside the lab, Stefano is a board-game, video-game, and RPG nerd, as well as a proud member and activist of the LGBTQI+ community.
